The Recovery Mechanic Memorial Wall is located inside the wire of MOD Lyneham, because of this it is not somewhere non-serving folk can just drop in and see. This is where the branch can help, we organise an official trip so that members of the branch and families of deceased Recy Mechs can visit the memorial wall.
Winch to the Wall 2026 takes place on Saturday, 5th September. Our day will start from the car park of the REME Museum, your visit will include a guided tour of the REME Historic Vehicle Collection, housed in the Roger Jones MBE Hanger. A visit to the Recovery Training Wing to view the portraits of our comrades ‘Killed In Action’ and, of course to the Memorial Wall itself. Afterwards you will be taken back to the REME Museum where you can visit the main galleries at your leisure. Detailed timings and further details will be published for attendees nearer the event.
The cost is £18 per person (this does not include REME museum entry, this can be paid for at the museum entrance).
